About

Hi, I'm Rachel.

I live in Minneapolis-Saint Paul and own a business as a marketing consultant and professional career mentor with an objective to transition full-time into academia.

Professional Background:
My professional background consists of 15+ years in growth oriented positions including marketing and sales with large-scale organizations.

My most recent professional success, was when I stood up a business-to-business acquisition marketing strategy from the ground up to include service articulation, brand messaging, demand generation campaigns, automation, and more for a small consulting firm that was growing rapidly and in need of the systems and tools to deliver consistent and predictable sales.

Education:
Since I was a young child, I was hungry for knowledge. That “Why? Why? Why?” phase that kids go through? It never stopped for me.

Growing up in a closed religious society and home-schooled, I pined for the experience of school and access to learning. At 15, I convinced my parents to let me go to public school in my first ever "business case" which included a cost and opportunity analysis!

Somehow, the high school administrative team believed (sans any proof or paperwork) that I was educated and placed me as a Sophomore despite having the education of a 4th grader (at best). But I didn’t squander it and I worked my tail off to get top grades.

From there I went on to receive an A.A.S. in Marketing from Chippewa Valley Technical College, a B.S. in Marketing Communications from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, and an MBA with the University of Saint Thomas - Minnesota.

Personal Life:
When I'm not working, studying, or binge-watching some psychological thriller or documentary with my partner and our fur-child, I like spend time with friends and family, travel to new places, and strive to be a super cool auntie to my nephews and nieces.

What's Next:
All of these experiences have solidified that the way I can make the greatest impact on the world is through academia and am actively pursuing acceptance into a doctoral program in organizational behavior. My academic interests address the same issue from both sides. First, to help business leaders navigate the complexities of leading in today's organizational culture. Second, to research the causes and impacts of that culture to glean insights on how it can be improved for both the individual's career and for enhanced success within that organization.
